Dear PAIN Reports community

I am pleased to convey this message of gratitude and update to our readers, authors, reviewers, and team. This has been a year of change for the Journal. In June 2023, we received our first Impact Factor after a long preparation and examination process. There are many questions and concerns about the use of this factor, but it is still the most common way to assess the quality of medical and scientific journals. We are very proud to see the number 4.8 as the first IF PAIN Reports has received. Starting 7 years ago with no IF and with the requirement for authors to pay for publication, the wonderful team of the Journal, against odds, were able to build up a new Journal, an IASP official publication, that now stands in the first line of the pain-dedicated journals. I salute the authors who trust us and have sent their papers for publication with us, the reviewers who give their time and mind to this effort, the readers who took published data and used it to further advance science, and last, yet not least, our dedicated team—section editors and editorial board members for intense and thoughtful work. Since the announcement of the new IF, the number of submissions has more than doubled and quality has much improved. With the help of all of you, we will keep advancing this venue for the benefit of people suffering from pain.
