UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has achieved another milestone at the national level by securing four awards at the Abdidaya Ormawa event, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia. The awards honor student organizations (Ormawa) that demonstrate outstanding dedication to community service activities.
UNS received the following accolades: Second Place for Most Visionary University, First Place for Most Active Student Organization (awarded to the Principium Legal Research Group from the Faculty of Law), Third Place for Best Poster in Education, Persuasion, and Entertainment (earned by the Appaloosa Animal Husbandry Student Association, HMP, from the Faculty of Animal Science), and First Place for Best Comprehensive Expo Booth (also awarded to the Principium Legal Research Group from FH).
Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Ir. Dody Ariawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., explained that the Abdidaya Ormawa event took place at Universitas Udayana, Bali, from November 7–9, 2024. The event involved universities nationwide that passed the selection stage. UNS was represented by three teams from the Principium Legal Research Group (FH), the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Agriculture (FP), and the Appaloosa Animal Husbandry Student Association (HMP). Each university delegation comprised two team members, one Ormawa representative (Ormawa leader), and one faculty advisor.
UNS’s success in securing four awards reflects its commitment to empowering students to engage in impactful community-oriented activities. “This event not only recognizes outstanding Ormawa but also serves as a platform for students to develop their potential through community service. These achievements reinforce UNS’s position as a university that supports student growth in both academic and non-academic fields,” Prof. Dody said.
Therefore, UNS aims further to enhance the quality and sustainability of Ormawa programs while encouraging more students to participate in initiatives that benefit society and the environment.
These awards underscore UNS’s dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in providing quality education and fostering broader collaborations for social and environmental sustainability.
