The advanced practice research toolkit aims to address challenges of bringing research into nursing roles

Advanced practitioner (AP) roles are defined by four fundamental pillars: clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research (Health Education England 2017). However, while most APs will agree that the clinical pillar is the core component, accomplishing and sustaining the other three pillars can be more challenging. Anecdotally, research seems to be the pillar where many APs ‘just don’t know how or where to get started’.
