Social Media Use Among the Elderly: Balancing Benefits and Risks

In India, with rising internet access, even senior citizens  are increasingly using social platforms . It offers benefits like improved social connection, emotional support, and access to health information and entertainment. However, excessive use can lead to physical problems (like eye strain, poor sleep), psychological issues (anxiety, depression), addiction, and privacy risks. To maximize benefits and reduce harms, strategies like time limits, physical activity, digital literacy, offline interaction, and mental health support are recommended.infact they should be engaged in activities which is involving both elderly and kids so both should be away from Internet.
